The Newt Hotel and Gardens.
The Newt is one of the most exceptional country house hotels Britain has seen.
The Newt in Somerset is a country estate with magnificent woodland and gardens. The core is Georgian, with limestone buildings the colour of burnt orange, the seat of the Hobhouse family for more than two centuries
Innovative design is paired with the freshest produce from our gardens, beautiful country walks, superb service and a world-class spa – wrapping you in a sense of well being.
It was six years in the making, both gardens and hotel opening with admirably little fanfare the owners,South African Koos Bekker and his wife Karen Roos, prefer to share their creation rather than boast about it.

Weald Refrigeration is extremely proud to be selected to manufacture several of its under-counter prestige wine coolers for such a prestigious project as The Newt Hotel and Gardens.
These glass fronted cabinets are available in stainless steel or brown/black coated steel finishes and offer one of one of the highest specification wine coolers on the market today.
The Weald Range of cabinets can also be made to special dimensions and in a verity of finishes.
The hotel is a beautiful Palladian-fronted red-gold limestone Hadspen House, first built in 1687 and home for two centuries to the Hobhouse family: activists, politicians and conservationists.
It stands in a large working estate between Castle Cary and Bruton, and its famous gardens (previously by Penelope Hobhouse and Nori and Sandra Pope) have been entirely replanted and redesigned by Patrice Taravella.
The centrepiece is the egg-shaped Parabola walled garden, now planted with a comprehensive collection of 460 trained British apple trees, of 267 varieties, arranged in a Baroque-style maze.
And then there’s the cider press, bottling plant and bar, mushroom house, History of Gardening Museum, farm shop, treetop walk, thatched ice cream parlour and wild swimming ponds.
