A Blast From The Past, Annabel’s, London’s Legendary Nightclub
Annabel’s is legendary on the London club scene. It may not be the oldest, the grandest or the most exclusive, but it’s one of the best known and loved clubs in London.
The club reopened last year after a whopping £65m spending splurge that saw them leave their traditional basement home a few doors down and instead occupy a substantial Berkeley Square townhouse in its entirety.
Carved pink onyx, mother-of-pearl inlay, richly embroidered wallcoverings and a ceiling swathed in handmade silk peonies and that’s just the ladies’ loos.
Step through the doors of the new venue and it soon becomes clear why.
The owner, Richard Caring, commissioned the in-demand interior designer Martin Brudnizki, whose projects include the Ivy and Sexy Fish, to transform the whitewashed former bank offices into what would be London’s most anticipated relaunch in years.
No mean feat when a Grade I listing meant the 18th-century architecture couldn’t be altered in any way.
Themes of flora and fauna run throughout the building, which includes four restaurants, seven bars, two private dining rooms, a humidor and a terrace. Bespoke De Gournay wallpaper lines the Asian-inspired first-floor bar.
It is within the stylish bar area of Annabel’s new premises that Weald Refrigeration’s manufacturing expertise has been called upon to design and custom build s/steel wine coolers with the highest specification available in today’s modern market place.
Classic wines can be displayed to their best advantage and stored at the temperature that Annabel’s required.
Then there’s the basement nightclub when completed it was then deemed too similar to the old Annabel’s and not exotic enough for the new space. A garden of Eden, complete with jungle mirror panels, palm-like pillars and leopard-motif ceilings, took its place.
Weald Refrigeration is extremely proud to be called upon to manufacture bespoke bottle coolers for the fabulous Annabel’s.
